What does “made to measure colour" mean?
Cables RCT has developed a new production system that enables us to obtain practically any colour so we are able to attend to any of our clients’ needs, producing all our cables with the desired colour, guaranteeing that the colour will always be the same, even among different production batches.
Is it possible that “made to measure colour” can be applied to all of Cables RCT products?
Yes, it is!
Then, can a RZ1-K (AS) cable be produced with let’s say, a brown colour?
Yes, it can. But we have to take into account that the standard states that RZ1-K (AS) cables must have a green sheath so this hypothetical brown cable would not conform with the compulsory requirements so would not be able to bare the Aenor stamp.
Could other cables be produced in any colour, such as light blue?
Yes and no. In order to make the desired colour, we need to clearly identify the RAL reference. The everyday way to describe colours is not precise enough: How “light” is “light blue”? So, we can produce the colour we are asked for, as long as we are given the precise RAL reference.
What is RAL reference?
The initials RAL come from a German commission specialized in the technical definition for terms related to quality assurance: Reichsausschub fur Lieferbedingungen und Gutesicherung. Further information about RAl can be found at www.ral-farben.de
How can I find out what is the RAL reference for a certain colour?
For this, a RAL colour chart must be used which is used as the standard and the desired colour is compared to those on the chart. If the reference number is not known beforehand, and you have no access to the RAL colour chart, it would be very easy to provide us with a sample and we would happily find the correct RAL reference number. If desired, you can buy different colour types at the Ral web page with prices ranging from 10 euros to 1,750 euros.
Are there any limits?
Although there are some colours that in theory cannot be produced, at the moment, there are no limits. However, depending on the colour requested, we may ask for a minimum production quantity.
Is there a chart available that shows the minimum quantity for any colour?
We have a simplified chart attached that can be referred to in order to get an idea in most cases. It is, however, absolutely impossible to prepare a chart with all the possibilities as the number of reference colours reaches thousands. It has to be taken into account that each new colour must be dealt with as a small project as the process differences and the prices may be very significant for very similar colours, so we suggest the minimum quantities be confirmed before taking a definite decision.

Will there always be a minimum production quantity for colours from the chart?
We do not believe so. We think some colours will be of interest to more than only one of our clients: we shall progressively include these as standard colours and will regularly inform our sales department.
Is a perfect uniformity of standard colours of different batches also guaranteed?
No. The standard production process enables us to obtain a very similar colour among different batches but the guarantee of “made to measure” gives a considerably higher production cost to that of the normal process. Our clients usually prefer a reasonably stable colour for normal cables at a competitive price than a “perfect” colour at a higher price.
Are "made to measure" cables more expensive?
We always try to be as competitive as possible but the production process is considerably slower and the raw materials used are more expensive so this must be considered when fixing our prices.
